Few SoCal food landmarks inspire the devotion of The Donut Man, serving Glendora since 1972. People drive from across the region, and line up at all hours, for one thing above all. The seasonal fresh strawberry donut (and its peach cousin) overflows with whole fruit and is a genuine Southern California rite of passage. It’s even been served at Disneyland’s food festivals.

Rubel Castle (Rubelia)

Glendora's most unforgettable landmark is a castle one man spent decades building from rocks, bottles, and scrap.

Live Oak Avenue · Tours by reservation

Beginning in 1959, Michael Rubel and a band of friends spent roughly 25 years hand-building a full-scale castle from river rock, salvaged steel, glass bottles, and cast-off materials, towers, courtyards, and all. Now protected on the National Register of Historic Places, Rubel Castle stands as one of California’s great works of folk architecture, hidden in plain sight in the Glendora foothills.
